Misuse plagues system designed for chronically ill patients

When Santa Clara Police arrested a student for smoking pot in Graham Hall this October, they found a scale, a cooler filled with bags of marijuana and a medical "cannabis" card. The seller, who police say sold a grand worth of pot to other students, is currently facing felony possession charges.

Tuition set to rise by 6.5% next year

Tuition rates for next year are expected to rise $1,764 as a result of increased budget costs, university finance officials reported during a Feb. 24 student senate meeting. The projected tuition for next year of $28,899 is a 6.5 percent rise from this year's rate, and comes at a time when increased insurance costs, demands for higher faculty salaries and collegiate competition weigh heavily in the market.

Company cautious of new AS e-voting

An online survey company that is hosting two upcoming Associated Students elections does not recommend their service be used for such voting, according to an interview with the site's creator this week. The elections, in which voters will decide provisions of a modified AS constitution April 11 and choose student government officials April 27, will be online for the first time in five years.
